North Texas Women Fishing was founded in February 2019 by Jennifer Adams-Dillard, an avid angler who frequently fished tournaments alongside her husband. Through those experiences, she noticed that many women were interested in learning to fish but often lacked access to a supportive environment where they could ask questions, gain experience, and build confidence on the water. To help bridge that gap, Jennifer created a Facebook group dedicated to connecting women who shared a passion for fishing

What began as a simple idea quickly gained momentum as more women joined the community seeking encouragement, knowledge, and camaraderie. As the group continued to grow, it became clear that North Texas Women Fishing was more than just an online space—it was a network of women eager to learn, share experiences, and support one another in the sport.

Today, the community includes more than 7,000 women, ranging from beginners learning their first techniques to experienced anglers sharing knowledge and mentorship.

Recognizing the opportunity to expand educational opportunities, events, and outreach, North Texas Women Fishing officially formed as a nonprofit organization in February 2026. The nonprofit structure allows the organization to continue building programs that support women in fishing while strengthening partnerships within the outdoor community.

Through events such as workshops and group outings, the organization provides opportunities for women of all backgrounds and skill levels to develop their fishing abilities while forming lasting friendships and connections.

North Texas Women Fishing remains committed to its founding vision: Empowering women through fishing, education, and community.
